In order to make steady progress with the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, it is crucial that we strive to announce accurate and transparent information in a timely and appropriate manner both in Japan and abroad, and maintain careful communication with local residents, achieving mutual understanding through continued dialogue.

We will also hold the 5th Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning International Forum in 2021, as we have in previous years, in order for Japanese and international experts to share the latest progress and technical results of the decommissioning process.

In 2020, due to the outbreak of new coronavirus infection, the International Forum on Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning was cancelled and only the International Mentoring Workshop Joshikai was held.

This decommissioning forum was a time to exchange opinions among local residents and those involved in decommissioning, to share mutual common understanding, the latest progress in decommissioning in Japan and abroad, and technical achievements, and to think more about decommissioning.

The 2nd International Forum on Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning was held as follows to listen to the voices of local residents, provide information on the Fukushima Daiichi decommissioning in an easy-to-understand manner, and share the latest progress and technical achievements of the decommissioning with experts from Japan and abroad.

The 1st International Forum on Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning was held in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, jointly hosted by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and the Nuclear Damage Liability and Decommissioning Corporation (NDF), with the aim of disseminating the results of decommissioning and contaminated water measures at 1F and preventing rumors and rumors from fading.
